Andrew McNaught

I am a 60 year old self-taught artist based in Cheltenham. I am in the process of retiring from work as a surgeon in Gloucestershire and hope to build up a portfolio of (mainly) landscapes in oil. In the past I exhibited my paintings and sold work, but the demands of my job meant that I was not able to paint nearly as much a I would have liked. I have had a strong wish to return to painting for many years, and feel that now is my opportunity.

I am enjoying the excellent creative environment in the studios at Cheltenham Counselling rooms. There are examples of my work here, including my current 'work in progress' of Ocean Boulevard, F Lauderdale, Florida, just after rain, (its at an early stage).

You can see that I especially enjoy painting cityscapes, illustrated by my painting of the City of London from Poplar after a thunderstorm, and seascapes, including this large canvas of a rocky bay in west Scotland.
